We want our people to use their money to
“live their best lives”

We are a corporate appointee service based in Gloucestershire. We are an organisation which deals with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits of people who cannot manage their own affairs because they’re mentally incapable or severely disabled.
If people cannot manage their benefits themselves, they can choose an individual, usually a family member or friend, or an independent company such as Appointees Gloucestershire Ltd to be their appointee.

The DWP states that an appointee is responsible for:

  • making and maintaining any benefit claims.
  • telling the benefit office about any changes which affect how much the claimant gets.
  • spending the benefit (which is paid directly to the appointee) in the claimant’s best interests.
  • telling the benefit office if they stop being the appointee, for example the claimant can now manage their own affairs.

At Appointees Gloucestershire we do much more for our people than just act as appointees. We provide a person-centred service tailored to the individual. Everyone has their individual appointee bank account with Lloyds where their money is secure. All transactions on this account are audited. All personal monies managed by staff are also audited, whether it is cash or another bank account or a prepaid card.

We specialise in managing the benefits for people living in shared lives or residential settings.

We want all our people using their money to “live their best lives.”
